Newman running for GVEA Board 2021
I am running for re-election to the GVEA Board of Directors for another 3 year term. In the 5 1/2 years I’ve served, GVEA has made great progress and I’m proud to have contributed.
In the next few years, GVEA is going to have to make decisions on how to replace our aging generation in the context of also reducing our carbon emissions in the next 10 years. While there are decisions we can make, being mindful of cost to our members, we must also work toward solutions that involve the other Railbelt utilities and encourage state and federal entities to support sensible projects that both reduce costs and mitigate our carbon output.
There are a lot of moving parts and parties involved in this effort. With my knowledge, background and expertise, I pledge to contribute to viable solutions.
One thing that makes this effort rewarding is that GVEA is not a political body. We are all non-partisan directors working for the benefit of GVEA and the member-owners we serve.
Ballots will go out in early May to those members in District 4 (Downtown Fairbanks core, Island Homes, Hamilton Acres, east of the Steese Expressway to those along Gilmore Trail.
